More than 800 participants from over 50 nationalities will compete across eight disciplines that combine gaming and sport, chasing a share of a prize pool worth more than US$4 million. With the official Draw Ceremony now concluded and the full title lineup confirmed, all eyes turn to the opening day. The Road to Astana
The journey to Games of the Future 2026 has been months in the making. Teams and athletes first battled through the regional Phygital Origins and Phygital Rivals circuits before converging on Astana for the decisive qualifying stage, Phygital Contenders 2026 Astana, held from 10–15 June. Elite talent from Europe, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia competed across Phygital Football, Phygital Basketball, and Phygital Dancing for the last remaining places at the Games.
"This second edition of Phygital Contenders reflects the strength of the pathway we have built," said John Hewitt, International Marketing & Communications Director at Phygital International, also adding: "Seeing such a competitive and diverse line-up, with both returning teams and new challengers, is a strong indication that we are moving in the right direction. As teams compete for their place at the Games of the Future in Astana this summer, it is clear that the ecosystem is not only growing, but also becoming more competitive with each season."
The qualifiers also served as a showcase for the host nation's ambitions on the global sporting stage.

Together with our partners, we are proud to welcome the world's top phygital athletes and support the continued growth of this dynamic format."
Among the standout qualifiers were KMF Titograd (Montenegro), returning with unfinished business after narrowly missing out on last year's championship; Lahore Athletics stands out, being the first-ever team from Pakistan competing in the tournament, and OEASTE SP, one of Brazil's most successful Liga Fut7 sides.
In basketball, Valencia Basket 3x3, winners of Phygital Rivals Spain, arrived to face Boca, the official 3x3 team of Boca Juniors, and Serbia's 2025 3x3 champions, Vozdovac.
The Phygital Dancing field brought together GOTF 2025 runner-up Tiago Silva (Brazil), Dion Visser (Netherlands), Lala Geborgyan (Armenia), and Jose Campos (Peru).
The Phygital Shooter discipline followed its own path to Astana, with new challengers Hybrids (South Africa) and Klan Pedrajas (Spain) joining reigning champions xGoat in an eight-team lineup.
With qualification settled, the tournament brackets were revealed at the official Draw Ceremony on 7 July, establishing each team's route to the podium and marking the moment the competition truly came to life.

Four More Names Added Through the WPC Incentive Program
The final pieces of the puzzle fell into place in late June, when four additional teams secured direct spots through the World Phygital Community (WPC) Incentive Program. The initiative gives WPC Gold Members the chance to nominate standout athletes and clubs from around the world, with Phygital International evaluating each application against a scoring model covering competitive level, social media reach, submitted media plans, and commercial activation potential.
The four teams awarded slots through the program are FC 10 in Phygital Football, Flow Game Basketball in Phygital Basketball, Umutcan Tütüncü in Phygital Dancing, and GLYPH in MOBA PC. Full results of the program are on the World Phygital Community website.
Eight Disciplines, World-Class Titles, and a Stacked Field
The Games of the Future 2026 will stage competition across eight disciplines: Phygital Football, Phygital Basketball, Phygital Dancing, Phygital Shooter, Phygital Fighting, Battle Royale, MOBA PC, and MOBA Mobile.
Each blends live physical performance with digital gameplay into a single competitive format.
The confirmed title lineup powering the virtual side of competition features some of gaming's biggest names: Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, PUBG: Battlegrounds, UFL, FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, Just Dance, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and 3on3 FreeStyle.
The competitors list is equally stacked, bringing together esports giants LGD Gaming and Team Vitality alongside historic sports clubs such as Peñarol and Boca Juniors.
MOBA Mobile carries its own weight within that lineup. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has been confirmed as the title powering the discipline, with US$900,000 on the line, and the confirmation brings some of the world's leading MOBA Mobile organizations to Astana for what stands as one of the year's biggest competitions in the format.
In Phygital Football, home favorites ACF x Allur qualified by winning the Phygital Contenders Astana 2026 and will face defending champions Armadillos FC, who are looking to retain the title they won last year.

In phygital basketball, ZM NITUI arrive as champions with a roster blending professional basketball, 3x3, and NBA 2K experience, set to face Valencia Basket. The Phygital Dancing stage will showcase leading performers from the global Just Dance community, including Andrés Guardo and Sagdi (Sugdiyona Abdukhalikova). In Phygital Shooter, GOTF 2025 champions Novaq return to defend their title against challengers including Minsk House, aiming to improve on last year's third-place finish.
Astana will also see a wider group of GOTF 2025 champions return to defend their titles across other disciplines: xGoat in Phygital Shooter, México Quetzales Armadillos FC in Phygital Football, Liga Pro Team in Phygital Basketball, Kuznya in Phygital Fighting, and Ivan Vlasov in Phygital Dancing.
Reflecting on the strength of this year's field, John Hewitt added: "This year's Games of the Future will showcase the incredible breadth of talent across the phygital movement, bringing together iconic sporting clubs, world champions and some of the biggest names in esports on one global stage."
A City-Wide Celebration
For twelve days, Astana will transform into the global home of phygital sport, hosting matches across four landmark venues: the Barys Arena, home to Kazakhstan's leading ice hockey club; the Beeline Arena, known as the crown jewel of Kazakhstan's tennis program; the Athletics Sports Complex "Qazaqstan," the city's renowned venue for national and international athletics; and the Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov Martial Arts Palace, named for Kazakhstan's legendary Olympic champion.
The celebration extends beyond the arenas: Comic Con Astana runs concurrently from 5–9 August, hosting the Phygital Dancing competition and creating a unique crossover of sport, gaming, and pop culture in the heart of the capital.
