Ice Hockey

Ice hockey is a team sport played on an ice rink, where two teams compete to score goals by shooting a puck into the opposing team's net. Each team typically consists of six players: three forwards, two defencemen, and a goaltender. Players wear skates and protective equipment, including helmets and pads, to ensure safety during play.

The game consists of three periods, usually lasting 20 minutes each. The team with the most goals at the end of regulation time wins the match. If the score is tied, the game may go into overtime, followed by a shootout if necessary to determine a winner. The gameplay is fast-paced, with players constantly moving and engaging in physical contact as they battle for possession of the puck.

Ice hockey originated in Canada in the 19th century, evolving from various stick-and-ball games. The first recorded indoor game took place in Montreal in 1875.
