She led Kentwood to a 28–1 record and a third-place finish at the Washington State 4A Tournament. She was named Seattle Times State Player of the Year, state tournament Most Valuable Player, and a consensus first-team all-state selection. She finished as Kentwood’s all-time leading scorer with 1,684 points.

Vandersloot joined Gonzaga University in 2007. As a freshman, she was named West Coast Conference Newcomer of the Year, earned All-WCC and All-Freshman honors, and led Gonzaga in assists. As a sophomore, she won her first WCC Player of the Year award, was named WCC Tournament MVP, and helped Gonzaga win the conference tournament.

As a junior, Vandersloot again won WCC Player of the Year and WCC Tournament MVP. She led NCAA Division I in assists per game with 9.4 and became Gonzaga’s and the WCC’s all-time assists leader. During her senior season, she led the nation in assists again, broke the NCAA single-season assists record with 367, and became the first Division I player to record 2,000 points and 1,000 assists. She finished her college career with 2,073 points and 1,118 assists.

In the 2011 WNBA Draft, the Chicago Sky selected Vandersloot third overall. She became a starter as a rookie, earned WNBA All-Star selection, and was named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team. She later developed into the Sky’s main playmaker and helped the franchise reach the WNBA Finals in 2014.

Vandersloot became one of the WNBA’s leading assist creators during the late 2010s. She led the league in assists in 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021, and again in 2023. In 2020, she set the WNBA single-season record for assists per game with 10.0.

Her major team success with Chicago came in 2021, when the Sky won the first WNBA championship in franchise history. During that postseason, Vandersloot averaged 10.2 assists per game and recorded a triple-double in the playoffs. In 2023, she signed with the New York Liberty and helped the team win the Commissioner’s Cup. In 2024, she won a second WNBA championship with New York.

In 2025, Vandersloot returned to the Chicago Sky. That season, she suffered a right ACL tear and was ruled out for the remainder of the year. Outside the WNBA, she played for clubs including Beşiktaş, Wisła Can-Pack, Yakın Doğu, UMMC Ekaterinburg, Sopron Basket, Fenerbahçe, and Mist BC in Unrivaled. Her overseas career includes EuroLeague and Turkish league titles.
